Ah.... you got to love a day like today...

 It's one of those rare Florida days where it's actually like in the 50's, it's such a refreshing change from the normal blazing, choking heat that we are so accustomed to.  I actually get to bust out all the winter gear that I keep stored up for so long.. usually my uniform is shorts and t-shirts etc but today it's the old undershirt/jeans/jacket combo w/ matching fitted hat combo..

Anyway, hopefully you're not reading this to see a fashion report but to read what I've been up to.. I've just come back from an exhausting 2 days of flying then driving followed by more driving, culminating w/ more flying then ending w/ more driving.  You can find out about all that by listening to my latest podcast (kj52.libsyn.com) but either way it's nice to finally be home, I literally did nothing yesterday since I was so wiped out from my weekend (I basically just sat on the couch and watched my son try to eat the cushions).  

 I spent about 2 days in the NJ, NY area which was fresh to be able to get back to, I've been going up there since i was a kid since I have a lot of family in that area (plus my parents met in Brooklyn so I guess that puts a lil bit of NY in my blood).  Being in those enviroments is so unique to the rest of the country (much less Florida) and it really makes you appreciate it for what it is... so w/ that being said...

 Here is my observations from this week:

New York/New Jersey/NE America: 

 It's fast paced in these areas!  I'm from Florida which is such a melting pot of areas, cultures etc. and so we really don't have a particular vibe, accent etc. ... but the NE has it's own distinctive vibe and you can really see why based on the area.  I have to admit i really love it, I wonder sometimes what I would've been like if i had grown up there as opposed to FL (meaning I couldve been born in Brooklyn but it turned out to be Miami).  I think if I had to move that might be the first place I would shoot for.

Accidental text messaging:

Ok this week I've accidentally text messaged like 3 different people... meaning I was trying to text say "peter" but I ended up texting "paul" because the names are so close in my contact list.  So I'll send someone a text like "hey when are we meeting today?" (and that's all I'll put in it) and they'll hit me back like "who is this and what are you talking about?'  When I did this it made me think about how I used to prank call people when I was like 12... obviously these days you can't do that because of caller ID.  BUT......... I started thinking about how possible it would be to "prank text" someone ... meaing type in a random number and text someone something like "hey your house is on fire" or "your dog just ran away" or "the test results came back positive" .... LOL!!! See what happens and the hilarity that will ensue... 

Dunkin Donuts vs. Starbucks:

 The NE is serious about there dunkin donuts man!  What starbucks is to the rest of the world, Dunkin Donuts is to the NE... it didnt realize how serious it is until I suggested going to a starbucks and someone was like "why are you gonna pay 4 dollars when you can get dunkin donuts coffee for 1?"  Every show I've been to in the NE, every Sunday Morning service always has Dunkin Donuts coffee/bagels/donuts.... I'M LIKE STAY AWAY!  Not because I don't like it but because the donuts are addictive... what do they lace them with.. a little bit of crack?  

Talking in movies:  

 So me and the wife go to see "I am Legend" (great movie btw) and this girl behind us is giving a play by play commentary the whole movie... she had already seen it and was proceeding to let us know before hand EVERYTHING that was about to happen... I WANTED TO THROW MY POPCORN AT HER!   Thank God the movie was loud enuff to drown her out... but seriously I don't need a Jon Madden commentary throughout the whole movie.

Lol don't worry you're not the only one that accidently text people. I once sent a whole text message talking about how much I loved my boyfriend to one of my best friends. Thankgoodness she knows me well enough and let me know.

What you wrote about the movies so reminds me of my mom. Last summer my family and a bunch of my friends and boyfriend went to see some movie. There was a couple, from my school, behind my mom doing more than just making out. My mom is so not the type to say anyting, but she did. And then she looks at me and Robert, my boyfriend, and says "you guys better not ever be doing that or I will kill you"

Yeah, my friend just got a new Razor and texted me by accident because she forgot that I'm "not allowed to text".

About the movie thing: I hate when that happens! My friend does that all the time, it really makes for an annoying slumber party, but I guess I'm just as bad; I just absentmindedly memorize lines and just blurt them out in the same tone and at the same time. It even annoys me! My brother and I were watching Holes (and I know like every line) and he about killed me. He threw water bottles at me, pillows, etc. Imagine what he would do to my friend.

Ringing phones and talking on your cell during the movies

Hey KJ,
You know what drives me batty? When people don't mute their cells in the movie. Then they take the flippin' call and are talking during the whole movie.

Where we live we have a lot of teenagers that come to our movie theater. I have nothing against teenagers, I use to be one don't you know! Most of these particular teens don't know how to act out in public. Actin' a fool, throwing popcorn at each other during the movies like from three to four rows back, laughing and yelling loudly and then switching seats like 50 million darn times. Its annoying.

I just want to stand up in the middle of the theater and say, ''Just chill.'' But, eventually after almost all of the movie is over they finally stop. Either that, or someone else is just as fed up with them as I was and told the manager. I don't know. It's just nice to be able to go to the movies and actually see the movie without all the interuptions.

So, people, mute your cells and don't talk in the movies. We want to see the movie, not listen to you talk through it. Thanks!

No one can crank call me. Why. Because my mother works at the phone company.
I don’t have starbucks or dunkin donuts or anything of the matter where I live. (Honestly my mother forbade me from drinking so that means I never tasted it)

Ha its kinda funny to read that you pull out winter clothes in 50 degree weather down there. here in indiana, especially this time of year, we walk around in t-shirts in jeans when its anywhere around 50 degrees or higher. lol. well, at least us teenagers do. lol i love reading your blog. i almost died laughing when u said u watched your son try to eat couch cushions. Hello KJ,
I just went to your concert Saturday- January 12, 2008!
It was lots of fun and also my first real concert!!!
I had and awesome time especially during "Stomp the Rapper"
You made a song about a pair of keys, somebodies krutch(& I don't know if I spelled that right), and one of my shoes. Of course I don't remember what your rap was about because I was laughing soo hard, but I did get my shoe signed and I used the story as a testomony for my peers. So I guess everybody wins, and on top of it all my brother got a free CD signed by you at the concert because he was dressed up!! VERY cool.. But anyway I was really blessed to have gone to your concert with my family and other people of GOD.. It was a blast....and we can't get over the KJ Dance....HaHa

hey kj.how ya been? i jsut want to say that i would prefer dukin donuts instead of starbucks because 1.starbucks is like ,mega-expensive2.dunkin donuts is awesome and 3.i can't think of a 3 but any way i am on the same page as you with the whole movies thing.i have to admit that i tend to be one of those people at times.i remeber one time me and one of my friends went to see The Gameplan and there was this kid behind me who kept kicking my seat.it got on my last nerves.but any way that is all i got to say so bye.

Here in Hillary country there's a lot of confusion...you've been to my hometown, Schenectady...it's upstate but you made an impact when you blew through here man. It was at Central Park a couple of years ago...come on back we'd be glad ta have ya!
