Live blog from a court hearing..

Happy 08 to everyone!

I'm sitting here typing this blog semi-bored out of my mind as I'm sitting @ a city council hearing over a "code compliance" violation on my house.  Don't worry I'm not going to jail lol!  t was a formality I had to do as I was hooking up my sewer/water @ my house.

My city has this requirement that makes you hook up to the city sewer and water as they go thru and revamp
Cape coral w/ city/water.  Its a bit frustrating in a lot of ways because not only do u have to buy ur house and all the stuff that goes into it.. Then they slap u w/ a 5-10 thousand charge for doing this...  Sorry for ranting, but I feel bad for all the people that are struggling financially and having to get smacked w/ this also.

As I'm sitting here listening to them call up various peoples to give there stories on why they did/didn't pay there code violations.  I've realized that its a tough time for the economy and you start to see how people are struggling w/ paying there bills.. This trickles down to so many things and really makes me want to make sure I'm being wise w/ my finances.  I'm very grateful that myself and my wife have taken the time out to put God first in our finances (tithing, not spending on dumb stuff, having accountability financially etc..) But maybe its time to cut down on the starbucks trips?

Hmmmmmm....

Anyway here is my observations for this week:

Cds/cd players:

As I was cleaning out my garage this week and was tossing out a lot of junk that's been sitting in there too long.. As I was listening to my ipod I came across all these old cds and my old walkman cd player.. The funny thing was how outdated having a ton of cds and a cd player felt.. It felt like I had a such a relic from the past!  Even though we in the music biz complain how no one is buying albums anymore I realized I'm just as caught up in the new way the music biz works..  Is the cd/cd player going the way of cassettes and walkman?  Is the new thing ipods and single song purchases?  I don't know... But let me pnder this as I  go and listen to my new 80's song I just dled off the itunes store... Ha ha.

Nice rims/bad car:

I never, ever ever been able to understand this one..... Why do peeps go and put hot rims on a jacked up car?  There is something wrong when your rims cost more then your car! Down here in sw fl dudes love to put ridiculously huge rims on there cars (like 30 inch plus...) But when ya muffler is dragging off the back maybe u should fix that first?  That to me is the definition of being "hood rich" lol.

Wearing shorts w/ a skully hat:

Whether u call them skullies, toboaggin's, touques or a snow caps... I can't understand why people rock these w/ shorts and a t-shirt.  I'm saying this in the context of living in florida when its 85 degrees out!  Meaning if u wearing shorts and a tank top to stay cool why do u have a ten pound knit cap on ur head?  To stay warm?  Lol.... I guess when ur a slave to fashion I guess u just gotta do what u gotta do.. But sorry its not fashionable to have a sweaty forehead!

That's all for now.. I'm about to get called up!  Finally!

CDs and Players
written by Tia, January 08, 2008

I still get cds and keep them so i can download entire albums (Like Yearbook), i have like a collection (isnt it fun to actualy see the music you have?) and i still keep my player in case my MP3 player runs out of battery on a road trip or something, if you think about it it's not a bad idea, but then again i don't have an iPod, i have an MP3 player and it runs outa battery fast...
Recently, cleaning out my closet, i found a little black case and in it were these weird objects. "What are these?" Then i remembered when i was five, these would go in the car and make stories... "A cassette tape!" I don't know about you, but no one i know knows how to work these things anymore!
Well, (L) love to all! (L)

Heres how it rolls......

CD's and the building business
written by Kim from South Carolina, January 09, 2008

Hey KJ,
Sorry you had to sit through the City Council meeting. My dad works in the building business. He is a foreman for a mulitmillion dollar builder in Charleston, SC. He has to deal with all kinds people on a day to day basis. They are always having to make sure everything is up to code on these million dollar homes they build, especially since he is on the coast. Man oh man, the fines are horrible if its not up to code. Then if you do anything major or even minor to your house and you don't have a permit, you are going to get fined too. it's crazy.

I agree that we should be thinking of how we spend our money. We all need to be giving the Lord his share first and foremost. We all need to be better stewarts of our money.

We still buy CD's sometimes. Our new Fusion has a 6 disc CD player in it. We just bought it and it doesn't even have a Ipod plug in for it. Bummer. So, we usually just make our own CD's from our CD library. We also buy a lot of single songs from ITunes.

Keep up the great work KJ, and have a terrific rest of the week.

Blessings,
Kim

CDs still have their pros
written by John Bunyan, January 15, 2008

I was browsing through my itunes library and after viewing the properties, it said the song was only 128 Kbs! That's less then cd quality last time i checked. KJ I'm getting ur cd then ill download it 2 my future mp3 player... There's power in your words people... LOL smilies/grin.gif

to mention
written by Yannick Mardenborough, January 16, 2008

I'm glad to be living in the Caribbean. No house watchers. (At least where I live)
smilies/grin.gif
Anyways about CD's and mp3 players, I’ll have to say I only buy KJ’s music on CD.
The rest...I download...from P2P (file sharing)...moving on.
I don't own an iPod, but I do have a Sansa e260 (cheaper and was better than 2nd generation iPod Nano.)
B.T.W when you buy music from anywhere online the sound quality is always 128KBs.
I still use CD’s because my mother’s jeep (2006 Terios) can only play CD’s and she doesn’t want to buy an mp3 connector for it.

Well keep it real
I will always buy your full album
Yannick

Nice Rims ...
written by Joe Rossi, January 17, 2008

That is so funny that your talking about this ... I was driving down the street (Albany, NY) and look over and there is this $500 car ... sporting 24in spinners ... probably 5k worth of metal and rubber.

You have problems being a good steward of your finances if your rims cost 10 TIMES MORE then your car!
