Ah... the wonders and joys of cold tour buses, germs, allergies combined w/ dry air and traveling!

Yes... yes... yall... I'm currently sitting here in Gardner KS. typing this blog nursing a styrofoam cup of Throat Coat tea... Why you ask? Well... I'm currently on the tail end of getting over a cold/sore throat/fever combination that more or less kicked my butt for 24 hrs. I woke up in the middle of the night a few days ago before I was about to fly home in a sweat and then hopped out my bunk in the tour bus and began to shake from cold shivers... SCARY!

Basically it was your standard head cold fueled by tons of traveling and the dry air of the colorado/utah/montana regions that fused itself into my throat/head. WHOOPEEEE... then combining this w/ flying home lead me to have a miserable day @ home ... Praise God as I am now pretty much over it and Im just left w/ a deep Barry White baritone voice on stage... (sorry to anyone that thought i was too deep vocally on stage...)

With that being said I've had several observations on what happens when your sick...

Observe:

No matter how old you are you revert to age 5 when your sick:

ESPECIALLY IF YOUR A MAN... I'm sorry when your sick it brings out the 5 year old in you... All you want is your blanket.. your mommy... some chicken soup and the TV. What I found out was that especially if you're a macho man there is a equal and opposite ratio to how wimpy you will be when you come down with a cold.. Also smaller the sickness the bigger it feels in your mind.. here is the math equation:

BIG MAN = BIG WHINER

Small cold = BIG WHINER

Hacking up something big sometimes feels like an achievment:

This is gross but halfway through my sickness I hacked up something that was brownish/green about the size of a quarter and actually felt a little bit proud about it... It was almost like my only achievment/success of the day since most of my day was spent being sick.... so as I spit it into the toilet I contemplated hanging onto it? Nah.... just kidding... well....

Most cold medication side effects makes you sicker than your actual sickness:

So I've been on this zyrtec stuff which apparently has a stimulant and a decongestant/depressant in it so basically this has the effect of speeding you up and slowing you down all at the same time... which is equivalent to spinning around on a ferris wheel and then stopping abruptly... now mulitiply this by an entire day! Good times!

Happy sneezing!

just don't do what my daddy does and take an entire bottle of NYQUILL he had me do that once and I missed three days of school, and i never miss school. I felt like I had been runover by a truck, which was actually worse than being sick.
